Il prefisso genovese in-

Molti termini che presentano in genovese il prefisso in- lo hanno ottenuto tramite dissimilazione di un’antica consonante doppia. Si trova quindi inlustrâ < illustrem, inmenso < immensus, inludde < illudere, ecc. Altri lemmi hanno semplicemente mantenuto il prefisso latino, come per inscrive < inscribere. Altri ancora sono stati formati per analogia, come inmanegâ.

Completamente diversa è la questione per termini come imagine < imaginem che non hanno mai avuto né il prefisso in- né la doppia consonante, e per i quali scrivere in- non sarebbe giustificato. La grafia errata inmagine, usata occasionalmente da scrittori moderni, è quindi una forma di ipercorrettismo basata sull’italiano, ed è sicuramente da evitare.

In questo dizionario, stanti le finalità principalmente didattiche che lo animano (volte anche al recupero di alcune fra le forme più genuine, qualora incontrino l’interesse dell’utenza), si riportano entrambe le forme quando esistenti ed etimologicamente giustificate.
