Adverbs formed from Latin ad followed by another element normally do not display a doubled consonant. Thus one writes abasta [aˈbasta] “enough,” areo [aˈreːu] “abundantly,” apeña [aˈpeŋˑa] “barely,” etc.

The orthography adopted reflects a criterion of uniformity, considering that many of these forms also admit a variant with the elements separated (e.g. à basta, à reo).
