The conjunctional phrases ben che, sciben che and mæximo se are followed by the verb in the indicative: ben che ciuveiva, m’é toccou sciortî “even though it was raining, I had to go out”, sciben che quella menestra a no me gustava, me l’ò mangiâ “even though I didn’t like that soup, I ate it”, mæximo se no n’ei coæ, beseugna che ne dæ unna man d’aggiutto “even if you don’t feel like it, you have to give us a hand”. Ascì ben che and con tutto che can take either the indicative or the subjunctive: ascì ben che m’ea ciù cao stâmene in cà, son anæto à quella festa “even though I would have preferred to stay at home, I went to that party”, ascì ben che ô savescimo, no porriëscimo parlâne in ciæo “even if we knew it, we wouldn’t be able to talk about it in public”, con tutto che gh’emmo provou, no emmo posciuo fâghe cangiâ d’opinion “although we tried, we were not able to make him change his mind”, con tutto che gh’agge dæto avvertensa, o l’à vosciuo fâ de testa seu “even though I warned him, he insisted on doing things his own way”.
