La forma insciste < insĭstĕre è quella maggiormente attestata nella lessicografia storica del genovese; ugualmente presente, e corretta, è la forma inscistî, con passaggio dalla terza alla quarta coniugazione.

1. Verbs occurring in both the third and fourth conjugations

In Genoese some verbs may occur either in the third or in the fourth conjugation, such as co(n)strue [ku(ŋ)sˈtryːe] ~ co(n)struî [ku(ŋ)sˈtrɥiː] “to build”, destrue [desˈtryːe] ~ destruî [desˈtrɥiː] “to destroy”, insciste [iŋˈʃiste] ~ inscistî [iŋʃisˈtiː] “to insist”, resciste [reˈʃiste] ~ rescistî [reʃisˈtiː] “to resist” or tradue [traˈdyːe] ~ traduî [traˈtrɥiː] “to translate”. The two forms are of course easily distinguished by their infinitive endings. Both forms are in use, valid, and perfectly synonymous.
